But a 25 mile range battery pack is under 2 thousand bucks, and it will charge from a regular home electric system in a few hours. The lead acid foam battery might drop the price to 500 bucks soon!

Very efficient, light weight generators are already available at low mass production prices. And electric drivetrains replace inefficient transmissions, the battery, generator, motor combination does the job of a transmission with 25 miles of pure eV performance that will drop average gasoline consumption by 90%.

It's time to stop quibbling and back this technology with bloggerel and eventually capital. If we can get the mass delusional media to notice this technology, it may just get going. GM is paying it lipservice by touting the Volt.

That's a good start, the salesmen in the boardroom have evidently listened to some engineers. Communication, it's a good thing.

But where are Toyota and Honda? If they want to keep gaining market share they will need their own plugin serial hybrids.

And mass conversion of used cars will be needed also.

There is new lead-acid battery technology out there now. It has characteristics similar to nickel-metal-hydride and Lithium only at much lower cost!

Firefly Energy has developed two significant technologies that will deliver advanced battery performance for an entire spectrum of uses served by lead acid, nickel, and lithium based chemistries. The two technologies, 3D and 3D2, involve the use of a porous three dimensional material in either flooded or VRLA (valve-regulated lead acid) battery designs. Yep, great design for serial plugin hybrid. inexpensive 25 mile range storage capacity.

The low cost and mass production are great. It should replace conventionasl lead acid. That means a huge market. And extra cheap plugin batteries.

I doubt that electrical vehicles are going to be successful as long as big car manufacturers and oil tycoons are going to have a say in this. It's all about basic economics. You make an excellent car but you can't sell it because nobody will help you to. The increase in battery performances is yet irrelevant as long as car manufacturers are going to make only prototype electric vehicles.

It is very frustrating charity. GM touts its new Volt design with 40 mile plugin range and backup generator to come out in 2010, then back pedals and says it may use hydrogen fuel cells (a pie in the sky oily diversion) instead.

Toyota will not introduce a plugin Prius, but hymotion has a Prius plugin conversion with A123 batteries for 12.5k extra, rumored to be available to the public soon for 9k extra. But who knows when?

Toyota and Honda persist in dead end parallel hybrids while refusing to consider serial plugin hybrid designs like the volt.

The oil Cheney-oids have control of auto import negotiations and will kill any move to 200+ mpg plugins. US automakers are blowing smoke on plugins. it's an oily, bushy, saudi mess.

Join your local democrats and lobby personally right to your candidates in this upcoming election cycle. We want government purchase of plugin vehicles for government fleet use and tax incentives for consumers to buy and convert to plugin hybrids!!!

No more fuel farming or mere 50 mpg hybrid purchasing and subsidies. 200+ mpg cars now!!!! all the technology is ready for mass production at affordable cost.
