This could irrigate land in dry areas like the US southwest. wind/wave electric powered pumps could reverse the usual flow of water from rivers into southern California's ag zones, providing water that is pumped inland, even as far as Arizona.

The vegetation enabled by this irrigation with refined sea water could sequester CO2 and provide huge amounts of water vapor. The resulting clouds reflect more sunlight. Just as rain forest in tropical zones produce extra clouds.

The double effect of more reflected sunlight from clouds and CO2 absorption by plants on the irrigated land provides the necessary cooling. A lot of areas like this exist across the planet. In Africa and the middle east where food and clean water and energy production would create much needed jobs. Now these regions are increasingly drought stricken by global climate change from GHGs.

Stop the presses. Branson, cough up the dough. These maybe the devices his 25 million dollar contest is looking for?

Oil rich nations even have the cash that would be better invested in this technology than the war machinery and jihad they now fund.

I wish I had been some kind of science major instead of a philosophy major, all I can do is talk about things. I can't fix anything. I mean I can fix things, but not in the way in which you described.

Just wind and waves, no new kind of extra special way to destroy the land...I wonder will George Bush do photo ops with people who are promoting this? I won’t wonder too long, I don’t want to waste more time than I already do.

Yeah philosophy me too, hehey. But i was always into science and technology with the philosophy.

The nutty chimp seems to pose at random, not much reason behind it.

The thing about this fresh water scheme is it operates against climate change on multiple levels. Increasing the amount of vegetation sucking up cO2, stopping the destruction of aquifers fed by rivers now run dry by irrigation and urban water use, and throwing up massive extra amounts of solar relecting clouds, just like rain forests do.

Sure these are massive machines on massive floating platforms offshore, but sometimes large scale rescues take industrial might. It would creat a lot of good jobs.

Thanks for stopping by Lo, I'll visit your blog more often as well. I also really like the whole theme of a quality life not taking huge quantities of consumption or possesions. Happiness is not what corporatistas would have US all believe. Yippee!
