Pretty amazing news!  It looks like some of the people running the world economy are considering re-evolutionary notions only discussed on blogs?

From Newsweek:

Proponents of a Green New Deal argue that massive public investments can lay the groundwork for the private sector to develop whole new industries and create millions of jobs in the near term -- and oh, by the way, save the planet in the medium term. "You are not just putting money into hot paper or into a financial-services sector that destroys itself," says Oliver Schäfer, policy director of the European Renewable Energy Council. "You are investing in clean technology, which is real business."

Just remember this, war production revived the economy during the depession era, the new deal just kept people going until the economy recovered.  Governments need to spur production of the specific devices that will power this green wave.

Only GHG fighting machines this time, no tanks, bombs, or planes will be necessary.  But it will be absolutely necessary for government to contract for millions of wind and wave power systems, plugin hybrids, biogas power systems, solar cogeneration panels,  ground source heating/cooling systems, and the smart grid systems to connect it all together.

Take the leap and fire up the factories now!  No time left to waste, Bush and his neocon oil cronies have waste far too much time and capital already.
