Is this deep ocean thermocline sound transceiver, the SOFAR channel (SOund Fixing And Ranging channel), discovered by submariners, a conduit for a kind of whale internet?  Distributed organic computing using whale sonic extra sensory communication, directly mind to whale mind?

Speculation on this notion in the past centered on the possibility of advanced technological civilization without tool development and it's seemingly necessary adjunct.  Namely linear, cause and effect temporal perception. 

If the zen esp of animals can coexist with techological development, it might explain how life can survive the discovery of the deadly dangerous human playthings like nuclear power.

And that just might input a value for the persistence of techological civilization, capable of  comunication and travel across space/time, into the famous Drake Equation, that would result in the probability of many extraterrestrial civilizations.

The Drake Equation sets out that probability of extraterrestrial life being directly proportional to the length of time a technological civilization can resist destroying itself. 

If GHG climate disaster or nuclear armageddon intervenes in our evolution, what chance is there that other civilizations on other planets could avoid that fate?  Slim to none.  life on other planets erupts, then after a few 100 million years it snuffs itself out, like a colony of bacteria on a bathroom sink cleaned with lysol.

But if creatures like whales, that operate in a more zen-like world view, can use distrinbuted organic computing to manipulate matter directly through conscious design using DNA, for instance.  maybe a less war-like and more sustainable technological civilization is possible?

After all, engineering on the molecular DNA level is much more powerful than our ham handed approach.  we are just now starting to understand molecular engineering.  nature uses it to build everything from the human mind to coral reefs.  Why not spacecraft?

Designed and grown, directed by hundreds of dolphin or whale minds operating by organic distributed computing.  When will the whales from space land?  maybe they already have, hehey.

Better hope it is not a species like in the film series, "Alien", they grew their technology.  Their spacecraft, like super techological hives of bees.
