Remember that estimate before the Iraq invasion from the bushco administration?  Not many do.  USAID Director Andrew Natsios and Wolfowitz claimed it would cost taxpayers 1.7 billion, whoops.

Now the bushco total of 500 billion is being challenged, here's the new total and  the rationale behind it for Iraq and Afghanistan.

So how far would 5 trillion go towards ending oil dependence and GHG disaster from fossil, nuclear, and fuel farmed (yes, ethanol produces twice the GHG of guzzling regular gas) energy?

Spread out over 20 years that would be 250 billion per year to invest in this energy revolution, just from the government side.  And government investment, in this country, is magnified many times in the economy.  By private investment and by job creation.

But take heart, there is at least 100 billion per year in subsidies and tax breaks for fossil, nuclear, and agribizz ethanol that could be diverted to renewable energy and conservation.  Without raising taxes.

Just cut that corporate welfare for exxonmob and other multinational; criminal conspiracies disguised as energy businesses.  Now liquid ammonia fertilizer for agribizz is imported on tankers from Russia.  A whole new source of corporate subsidy rip offs and food (and fuel farm) price inflation.
